Former FBI chief Robert Mueller to investigate Trump

In Washington D.C. Robert Mueller has been appointed to be the special counsel. This means he will be the man in charge of the investigation into president Trump and his alleged ties with Russia and the firing of FBI chief James Comey.

Robert Mueller was director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) from 2001 to 2013. Both Democrats and Republicans support his appointment following the discovery of the ‘Comey memos’, which can contain important data. As if there wasn’t already enough suspicious information coming from the Trump administration, the release of these memos was the final straw.

Joshua McCowen studies history in Washington D.C. and believes that Mueller is the right man for the job. ‘He is clearly nonpartisan. If anyone can get to the bottom of this mess it will be him. He is a legend in law enforcement, he’s very committed and he does not support forceful interrogation.’

In the worst-case scenario if the allegations prove to be true, perhaps impeachment of Trump will be called upon.
